The consequences of fatal concentrations of carbon monoxide while boating have been recognized. On the water, clear thinking and sound judgements are necessary for safe navigation. Relatively low levels of carbon monoxide may also be deadly if they lead to confusion and mental mistakes. Diesel engines, stoves, lamps, etc. are often unrecognized as a source of this deadly gas.
